My father who is now 82 was born out-of-wed lock to a gentleman whose last name was Broome. My father was born in Clinton, Iowa to a woman named Hazel Smith. She and my grandfather were very young...my grandmother was 17 at the time and there was great pressure put on this young man to marry my grandmother. But he was not to be pressured. He spent time in a junivile home for a short time. Afterwards, he moved to Mississippi shortly after my father was born. When my father was in his early 30s he tracked down my grandfather in Mississippi. I think it was around Jackson. When he arrived my grandfather introduced my father to his wife and daughters as their cousin. My father never again tried to reestablish contact with this man...but I would like to know more about this side of my "unknown" background. Any help would be appreciated. Willard D.
