Query Text: |
I believe , one of my great, great grandfathers, was an Archibald Campbell, born around 1800 in Taynish, (Parish: North Knapdale) Argyll, Scotland. His wife was Elizabeth Knox or Elizabeth Murrell Knox. They had several children including my great grandfather Thomas (born 1831), Archie/ Archibald (born 1835) and James (born 1837). I think Archibald Campbell (senior) must have left Scotland for Canada around 1837-1838 because he died in 1841 in Euphemia, Lambton, Ontario, Canada. Thomas and James migrated to Tasmania, Australia in 1857 where they settled in Jetsonville, near Scottsdale in the north east of the state. They both married and had large families... but not as large as their brother Archie who settled in Mobile, Alabama where he married twice and had 18 or so children. I would love to hear from anybody who has information on any of these people especially Elizabeth Knox and the two Archibalds, as I know very little about them.
