I am trying to solve a brick wall that has baffled our family forever. I am hoping someone out there can give me some kind of clue as to where to look. Here is what I have. Jemima Coykendall was born 1793 or 1794 in New Jersey. At the age of 21 she married Peter Stivers on 6 Jun 1814 in Ontario Co, NY at her sisters house by a Methodist Minister under the name of Jemima Cuykendall. Later in life he was a coal miner. This was her first marriage and she never remarried after her husband died in 1828. She was widowed at the age of 35 or 36. She died on 29 Mar 1875 in Aids Twp, Lawrence, Ohio and probably is buried in Myrtle Tree Cemetery with her grave marked by a field stone. Peter was born 24 Aug 1794 in Mendam, Morris, New Jersey son of Daniel Stivers and Margaret Holbart. Peter and Jemima moved to OH before about 1815. Peter, her husband, was a school teacher in Pomeroy, Meigs, Ohio. I have found she had a widow's pention from her husband's service in the War of 1812. Peter enlisted as a private at Marcellus, Anondaga County, New York, on 12 May 1812. He was discharged 20 May 1813. In 1830 and 1850 she lived in Salisbury, Meigs, OH. In 1872 she was living in Aids, Lawrence, Ohio. Peter and Jemima had the following children: James born 22 May 1815 in Pomeroy, Meigs, Ohio who married Deidamia Fellows, Jane born abt 1816, Randall born abt 1817, Tabitha born abt 1818, Adeline born 14 Feb 1819 Meigs Co., OH, Daniel 4 Oct 1820 in Pomeroy, Meigs, OH (my ancestor) who married Sophia White Saunders, Zillah born abt 1821 and was married to Marshall Nye.
