My grandmother was named Phyllis Clare Sheridan daughter of James Sheridan and Minerva Burger. She always claimed a kinship to the Phillip Sheridan, the civil war general. I do not think my family is decended from him or his bothers. However I found a mention of an uncle that was at the general's wedding. No mention of his name so I do not know if her was an uncle on Sheridan's mother or father's side. If he was on the father's side he might be the link I am looking for.
