On 25 Apr 1853 a Catherine Mahar was the witness at the marriage in the Norte Dame Cathedral in Montreal, Quebec, of my g. grandparents, John Darcy of Co Clare, and Mary Moran of Co Kildare. Her name appeared again on 16 Feb 1855 as godmother of their son Patrick Rorbert at his baptism in the Church of St. Mary in Boston, Mass. I have no idea if Mahar was her maiden name or married name. If it was her married name she might have been a Darcy. Does anyone have a Catherine Mahar in their family that was in Montreal and Boston in those years?
