FYI-March,1915 Nebraska- weeks old female baby left at home of Mabel McBride by name of Schram of Burwell, Nebraska. Article found: "Officials cannot identify baby left at McBride home. Lincoln, Nebraska March 15 - Deep mystery still surrounds the identity of the wee girl baby left at the home of Mrs Mabel McBride two weeks ago by a man and a woman, giving the names of Schram and claiming to live at Burwell. Mrs. McBride sent a telegram to Schram seven days ago, telling him if he did not come and claim the infant she would send it to the state home for dependent children. A message from Schram stated that he would be in Lincoln on the first train, but he has not yet appeared. In the meantime Mr and Mrs Eli Birky of Strang are anxious to adopt the child and are only waitinn for the future developments, which they hope will shape themselves so that they can claim the little one as their own. Mr and Mrs Birky think that the baby girl is the one which was brought from Jamestown, PA by Miss Allie Russell to be turned over to them for adoption. It is the same age as the expected infant from the east. The police authorities and Sheriff Hyers are searching for Miss Allie Russell who is supposed to have brought the baby from the Pennsylvania town. She has been traced to Milford and then back to Lincoln again, but she has disappeared as completely as if the earth had opened up and swallowed her. Some sensational developments are expected soon."
