Seeking information regarding William Bruce and Kitty Gaines of Mercer Co., KY. They were married there on 26 November 1787. Father of the bride was William Gaines, and Gabriel Gaines was a witness. I believe this William Bruce was also a Pvt in the Warren Co., NC militia, and was born in Richmond Co., VA. He died in Lincoln Co., KY, as did wife Kitty. NEW INFO: William Bruce had a first wife, Hannah Morgan, dau of William Morgan and Elizabeth Duncan. Most believe his first daughter, Nancy Bruce, who became wife of William Blackerby, was daughter of William's second wife, Kitty Gaines, but a few believe her mother was Hannah Morgan. Hannah and William were married in 1791, and she died before 1797. Hannah's father's will leaves property to 'Hannah Bruce's daughters'. Some believe one of the daughters was Nancy Bruce. The issue will be settled by SPECIFIC DOCUMENTATION of Nancy Bruce's birthdate. I seek this documentation. Thanks, Richard Cosby
