I grew up in South Africa and seeking information about my grandmother on my father's side (Hilda Andrea Richter, married Karst Smits in 1952?). She came from Middelstum, had 8 sisters as far as I know and one brother (alive, and still living in Groningen as far as I know). All the sisters died of cancer, and a few (incl my grandmother, although I never knew her) went over in the 1950's to live in South Africa. My grandmother's mother was adopted and the woman who adopted her was also called Hilda Andrea. Some of her sisters' names include Gerda, Trientje and Bernhardina (as far as I know).
