HILLERY | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Query Text: |
I'm looking for any info relating to Martin Hillery, b. ca. 1821 in Ireland ("family legend" thinks Clare) who emigrated to Massachusetts, USA, perhaps by way of Glasgow. He was married to Eliza, maiden name not known, b. ca. 1833 and emigrated from Ireland to US (Massachusetts) in 1850 according to 1910 US census. Given the ages, they were possibly married at emigration and thus 1850 works for Martin. There is a Martin Hillary listed as passenger of Harmonia from Glasgow to NY, NY, in 1849 with a trade as 'tailor.' US census lists Martin and family in Rutland, Worcester, Mass with his trade as farmer. Path back from me to Martin is strong; now trying to track this back to Ireland, as that is listed birthplace of known great-great-grandfather John Hillery of Somerville and Beverly, Mass. Variations in name spellings and census accuracy (1849 vs. 1850) not unusual. Also interested in Eliza's maiden name if connections can be found. Thank you.
