SWALES. My family originate in Farndale, North Yorkshire. In 1755 John SWALES married an Elizabeth WEDGEWOOD. Later generations lived in Beck Hole (Goathland) & Whitby both North Yorkshire. My Grandfather Robert SWALES was born in Hartlepool, Co. Durham. Two ancestors, Sarah BERNARD b.1822 & Thornton BERNARD b.1824 were both born in Gibraltar. They were the children of Thomas BERNARD who was at the time serving in the 64th Regiment of Foot. Posted by Brian SWALES
