I am interested in finding out about Samuel Dow and Cynthia Harkness. It has been recently brought to my attention that they are possibly my ancestors. My gg/grandmother was Elizabeth Dow. She married Benjamin Hallock in 1839-40. Benjamins's parents were Rev. William A. and Catherine (DeGroat) Hallock of Elizabethtown. Benjamin and Elizabeth lived in Meaford, ONT for a great many years. They raised 11 children, including my g/grandfather, Lorenzo Dow Hallock. Would like information on who Elizabeth parents were, any siblings and whatever else I may be able to find out. I know Samuel and Cynthia were early settlers of Wolford. They had 7 children: Lamira, Samuel, Marble, Abraham, Henetta, Jonathan and Cynthia. Perhaps one of their sons was Elizabeth's father. Benjamin and Elizabeth also had a daughter named Cynthia.
