I am most looking for my 3 birth siblings. I have their 1st names - am unsure of the last name. Oldest by around 4 or 5 years (my Mom;s estimate seeing a picture), is Kathleen (or with a C or alternate spelling), middle Anita & just older than me, David. I was born May 24, 1951 @ Eastmoreland Hosp in Portland Oregon. My hair is/was dark brown, eyes brown green, 5' 3+", solid build, not thin. Controlled diabetic. Fairly healthy. We moved to Minnesota just before I was 4. It's where I now live again. My adopted name is Cordelia Marlys Hansen. Birth mother used the name of "Hall, Geraldine" (maybe spelled Jeraldine). Mom thought she was about 28 years old when she met her. My Mom met her at my birth Grandparents home, & @ the hospital. She thought she was a social worker, not knowing she was my future Mom, so my birth mother spoke freely for a while. The 'family' name was 'Burke'. I traced the family almost back to Ireland by the censes records. My natural great uncle was (G.I think stood for Gilbert) G. Thomas Burke, Osteopath in Portland, had a health food store & ran for Mayor at some point. His slogan was "Places for people, not Pachyderm palaces"...obviously a Democrat. He is deceased. It is known my birth mother was married at least 2X. I believe myself to be the result of perhaps an 'extracurricular activity' and given up as they did keep the other 3 children...the Great uncle would not allow her to abort me. He was my Mom's Osteopath/Chiropractor & he knew Mom & Dad were wanting children but not able to have any. They were older parents-Dad 65 & Mom almost 50 when I came into their lives. Both deceased now. Mom always said I had a lot of my birth mothers characteristics-and she had been 'assured' that I was a 'legitimate' child. That was important to Mom, not to me. Lewis Alfred & Esther Aasness Hansen adopted me around June or so of the same year. Belive it was a 'private' type adoption. They brought me home @ 6 days old. Some years ago Mom & I contacted the attorney office that handled the adoption but I guess the father died & the son now runs it & he wrote an extremely rude & unkind letter back to our inquiries-no help to say the least. Almost as if he had some 'stake' in it...was strange! I spoke some years ago to my birth mothers cousin, last name of Kenney, who lived in California & she said she had no idea where any of the family was/is, and that about the years around my birth lost touch with Jeraldine but never knew of my existence. Thought theu may have moved to Sacramento, CA area...but not sure. Described her as a "free spirit" growing up, said she was fun & lively. That some thought of her as the "black sheep" in the family. Said she would find & send a picture of her to me but never did & never touched bases again either. My main desire is to locate my birth siblings. It would be great to know them, at least OF them. I'm not looking for 'THE great welcome' or anything like that because I know it's possible they would not care to know me - however, I would like to know about them - perhaps see them at some point. It is NOT my belief that my birth mother OWES me any explanation, or anything actually. We ALL make the best decisions we can at the time needed, what ever the reasons are, therefore, she OWES me nothing. However, if I am anything like her or my siblings or whomever my natural father is - I want to know what ever I can know. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
