((Surnames: Harlan Houck Worthey Chase Craig Palmer Depper McCann Harlin)) ------------------------------------------------------ Hello, for some time I have been doing research on the "William Charles Albert Harlan" Family of Elsah Jersey county Illinois it is mentioned in a census that William Charles Albert Harlan is originaly from North Carolina recently I read a posting saying that he came from south carolina as follows:: ""Date: Sat, 03 Jul 99 From: Terri Harlan terri.harlan@gte.net Subject: William Charles Albert Harlan, born Aug 1847, SC My great grandfather, William Charles Albert Harlan, born Aug 1847 in SC, according to marriage certificate in Jerseyville county, Ill. According to his statement passed down from my grandfather Justin "Jessie" Irvin Harlan, his dad fought on the side of the South in the civil war, and his brother fought on the side of the North. We have checked the civil war records in SC, and they show no records. Cannot seem to trace him back from Illinois. My cousin has the Alpheus book, and is also trying to find a connection.
