I am in the process of researching my ancestors and in particular that of my greatgrandfather John Francis Somers who married my great grandmother Anna Gans.At the time of their marraige in 1886 in Taung he was a member of the Bechuana Border Police and he died in 1894.They had the following children:Maud Mary Somers,John Francis Somers(my grandfather) Jane Somers, Joseph Stanley Somers, Peter George Somers and another child name unknown, might be Catherine/Kitty Somers.All the children were born between 1886-1895.My great gandmother Anna Gans x Somers married twice after my greatgrandfathers death.Second marraige surname could be something like Devernon and last surname Williams. She apparently died at the age of about 104-114 and when she turned 100 received the freedom of the city of Jhburg, she lived in Booysens at that time of her life.
