I am hoping to find my stepfather's parents. He was Henry Kowalski[Kane] - born around 1917 on March 23rd in Buffalo, New York. He was placed in a Polish Catholic orphanage there because he and his brother had been left alone by their sisters and started a fire. He was farmed out as a teenager and learned that he had an Aunt when she showed up at the farm wanting him to become a priest. He was so upset, I don't think he even thought to ask her name. He had a brother and two much much older sisters- Vi & Edna. He asked them about his parents many times and was only told that their names were Joseph and Mary???? They all changed their surname to Kane at some point. His nickname was Killer Kane because of a funny boxing incident in college. He lied about his age to get in the Army Air Corps. Sure hope somebody can help me find out where his roots were. Thanks, Patty | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
