Query Text: |
My father was born in or near Jacksonville in or about 1927. He was orphaned and subsequently placed in a group home. Either the woman who operated the facility or the street where it was located was called Wilson. I understand that the home burned many years ago. Siblings of the John Acosta family "adopted" at least three young children from this place; my father was one. He was not told of these circumstances until he was fifty years old. He was not provided an opportunity to learn what his actual surname was. He was raised as "Jerry Simpkins." We were told that his birth mother was a tall blonde woman and that she might have called him Eugene or Gene. My father was very fair with red hair and blue eyes. I know that anyone who might have had firsthand knowledge of facts surrounding his birth have probably passed away, but if anyone has a family story similar to this one, if anyone could help me determine who my father's family was/is, I would be very grateful. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
