My Mums, Dad was Thomas Edward Lunt 3rd Engineer World War 1.Ship he was on S.S. Sagamore sunk by U-49 3rd March 1917.Rescued 12th March 1917.Only 7 survivors.Arrived at Capetown aboard S.S.Deucalion Liverpool Blue Funnel Co.% hand to have both feet amputated due to Gangrene and Frostbite.He got back to Liverpool intact but over the next 3 years had toes and flesh cut away,in 1920-21,Amputated his legs to just below the Knees.Its a long story,as when his wife died in 1935 Mums brothers 3 (1 had died 1934) and 2 sisters came to live with My Mum Dad and me,in My Dads,Dad's house as T.E.L had become not a nice person.What I am after is if anyone can help me trace his Brother (will be Dead)His name is shown in the 1954 telephone book as D.N.Lunt 9 Pelham Road Wallasey his wifes name was Winifred.He was a gentleman and his wife a Lady.They had a son Colin about 5 years younger than me,he might have married and had a family. Uncle Donny appears to have been named O'Donnell Nettleton Lunt not Donald Nettleton Lunt.Have found their Birth and Mariiage dates,but no deaths and no luck atall with Colin.Have attached a photo of Uncle Donny taken at my Uncle Albert Gordon Lunt Wedding about 1941 Uncle Donny is the grey haired man on the extreme left and looked very much like his brother Thomas Edward. I last saw Uncle Donny and Aunty Winnie just befre I went to sea in 1953 and settled in NZ.We have no records or photos of "Lunty" as he was called.I am hoping to save enough to get some of his ship records from New Foundland.Colin would be about 70-71,as I am 76 1/2.I promise to make a donation even if you can't help.Thank You and Best Regards Ken Berry ps Thats me on the right with the shorts,and wrinkly stockings | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
