Looking for information on a great uncle, William Arthur Strachan, but came to Canada with Barnardos as William Arthur Woodland. He was born in 1900 in Taunton, Somerset, UK, son of William Arthur Strachan and Mary Woodland, known as Florence Strachan. Went into care in 1911, then was sent to Ontario aboard SS Corinthian in 1912 with his brother Arthur Godon Leslie. He went to Mr J Ferguson, Holly, Ontario then as an adult lived in Toronto. When he enlisted in the Canadian Exp. Forces in 1918, leaving in 1919. He moved to Saskatwuen, finally to British Colombia. The only marriage I know is with May Rose Wyatt date unknown. He died in Kelowna General Hospital on 6 May 1979, and was buried Lakeview Memorial Gardens on 9 May 1979. Don't know if there was a first marriage or any children. His occupation was in the construction industry, although my uncle met him in UK during WW2 as a military padre.
