Garrity, Thomas, b. 1841 in Ireland, Co.Cork . Left his parents in Ireland in late 1860's, worked as a laborer in Rockville,CT. Was a U.S. citizen by 1870. Married Winifred Merritt about 1872-3. Had daughter, my grandmother, Catherine Matilda May 4, 1874 in Rockville. Winifred's name is misspelled on daughter's birth record as Musitt,due to a clerk's poor handwriting. Thomas ran a Saloon in Holyoke,Massachusetts in 1890's & early 1900's. His mother, Mrs. Garrity came over to CT just for 5 years 1874-1879 then returned to Ireland. Hope to find his death date and birthplace , and the Merritt cousins of Massachusetts, Northfield and Holyoke areas. Name may be spelled Garety. May have brother Timothy. Catholic religion. Daughter in Catholic Orphanage in Holyoke-Springfield area from 1880-1890 with movie star Eva Tanguay. I am Marilyn Kelley.
