I am looking for the ancestors of my grandmother Emily Gladys Roberts (1873 -1973)born in NYC area. Married Joseph McCullough in 1901 and later divorced in Nevada-1910. 1910 Census shows her living with her son Joe, and brother in law Hugh Smith (b 1875 in MA)and sister Matildaw (sic) (b 1876 Eng)in Brooklyn Ward 8 with Hugh and Matildaw's kids: Anne Smith (b 1894), Emily G Smith (b 1896), and Edward Smith (b 1897). My records show that she was born and marrield likely in Brooklyn, but cannot get confirmation from NY Borough records--may have lived in Bayside, NY Census indicated both mother and father were born in England, and he may have been a ship captain. Additionally, my grandmother may have had a step father named Aldridge. "Ted" or "Edward" may have been the give name for one or the other. 1920 Census shows Hugh and "Ethaldria" ("Matildaw" in 1910 Census) living with mother in law Elizabeth For?? (perhaps Forus or Forks) born in 1855 and naturalized in US in 1887--this Elizabeth would likely be my GGrandmother. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
