My daughter and i have working on family genealogy..We are stumped. We understand Alexander Hays {Hayes} came to Dekalb Junction in 1827..Unsure of if he came from Ireland or Scotland. But haven't been able to find what ship or port he arrived in? We believe he was born in 1804 and was married to Maria Barr. They were farmers. He had a son James W. Hays who lived on Oneil Road right off route 812 near the Ogdensburg NY turn off. James married Eliza Reidell they had 3 children. George, Ellsworth and Vernilla. Vernilla was a school teacher at the Ridge Road school Dekalb N.Y. {St Lawrence County} Vernilla married Rueben Haven of Dekalb also.. I believe he was a barber..Would love to get some answers and correspond with others searching the same names.. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
