My gggrandfather Lyman Ditson moved to Lee. Co. Iowa in 1839 with his first wife Ann Douglas. They had no children but adopted John and Emaline Cochran. Ann died Jan 7, 1849 and Lyman remarried to Lucinda Rose (my gggrandmother) in 1853. They had 5 sons said to be born in Franklin. (1) Allen Ditson June 15, 1854 (2)Jesse Ditson July 28, 1855, (3) Lyman Ditson March 18, 1857 - died diptheria Nov. 21, 1859 (4) John Rose Ditson Nov. 3, 1858 (5) Peter Ditson Jan 22, 1861. Despite this information, I can only find some reference to Lyman Ditson being from Franklin and fighting in the Blackhawk War and his father Thomas living on the Springfield River in deWitt Co. and moving to Sangamon Co. in 1830. I am particularly interested in locating the geneology of Lucinda Rose. She seems to have stepped off a spaceship and married my gggrandfather.
