LALITA YELDELL vs TASHANNA SMALLWOOD Hello Everyone, I'm writing this query in response to Lalita Yeldell's query. My name is LaShon Beaufort and I'm the mother of the late Tashanna LaShon Smallwood. First, and foremost I would like to say that the tragic accident that occurred on April 11, 2004 took two innocent lives. My daughter was killed by a drunk driver who was traveling on I-95 in the wrong direction. The driver was identified as Lalita Yeldell of Richmond, VA. She was found guilty on two counts of involuntary manslaughter and one count of maiming while driving under the influence of alcohol. It was proven by the state of Virginia Reconstruction team that Lalita Yeldell was clearly driving in the wrong direction. There were also several witnesses that testified the same. According to the prosecutor Yeldell's blood alcohol content was greater than 0.13 percent at the time of the crash, well above the 0.08 percent level at which a motorist is presumed to be driving drunk. Lalita Yeldell suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized for approximately 30 days, she received some out-patient therapy and was back on her feet in no time. My daughter Tashanna Smallwood and her friend were both killed instantly at the time of the accident, They both had serious multiple injuries and trauma to the head. Thank GOD that my daughter's best friend Adrienne survived the accident. She too was very badly injured, suffering with a broken femur, multiple broken bones in her face, as well as a long laceration on her face that she have to live with everyday of her life. She was on life support and almost didn't survive, but I know GOD HAS A PLAN FOR HER LIFE (May GOD be the glory). This tragedy has taken a toll on me and my whole family for so very long. My precious angel Tashanna was only 15years old, she had a heart of Gold, she was a very good child and never gave me any trouble. She was very bright, and was well liked by many people. She loved playing basketball and have won many trophies by doing so. Her biggest dream was to play in the WNBA. There' not a day that goes by that I don't think about my angel Tashanna, she will always be in my heart, but the saddest part of all is that I can't bring her back, and that hurts the most. I know we all have lost our love one at one time or another, but losing your child, especially at such a young age is one of the worst and most painful feeling you can every imagine. My heart goes out to Chantelle's family. Chantelle was my daughter Tashanna friend who was the driver of the vehicle. Chantelle had a son, and that poor child will never know his mother, because of a drunk driver. There's so many drunk driver's that take poor innocent people lives everyday, and something needs to be done. The court system is letting these drunk drivers get away with MURDER literally. The saddest part of my story is that when I attended the trail the defendant Lalita Yeldell had no REMORSE whatsoever, she and her family members and friends laughed like it was one big joke, but I know GOD HAVE A PLAN FOR HER TOO. With that being said I hope she finds it in her heart to ask GOD to forgive her, and to come forth with the truth.. LET THE TRUTH BE TOLD I don't wish anything bad for anyone, because I am a child of My Heavenly Father, and he will supply all my needs. All I want is for justice to be served, therefore all of you that read this query must think twice about the story that was told.
