I am seeking contact with descendants of William CLAREY and his wife, Mary Ann (nee WISEMAN), both born in Barrow, Suffolk in 1822, to learn more about their descendants in England and Australia. Here is what I know of them and their descendants: 1881 Census Recorded living at Hartleys Cottage, Westley, Suffolk: 1. William Clarey, aged 59, born in G. Saxham, Suffolk, Agricultural Labourer 2. Mary Ann Clarey (née WISEMAN), aged 59, born in Barrow, Suffolk, his wife (they had married on 29 March 1844 in Barrow, Suffolk – ref: IGI records) 3. Arthur Clarey, aged 30, born in Barrow, Suffolk, Plate Layer (Arthur was christened in Barrow, Suffolk on 29.7.1849 – ref: IGI records) No further information on Arthur 4. James Clarey, aged 23, born in Barrow, Suffolk, Working Maltster (more information on his descendants below) Other siblings discovered on the IGI include: Ellen CLAREY/CLARY - christening record dated 4.7.1847 in Barrow). She was born in Barrow, Suffolk, on 24 October 1846. Ellen died on 23 July 1909 in England. On 1 January 1868, Ellen Clarey/Clary married Edward ELLIS in Colchester, Essex. Edward was born on 3.12.1839 in Birmingham, Warwick, England. The IGI records list one son, George William ELLIS, born in Birmingham, Warwick on 6 July 1874. George died on 20 September 1937. There were probably more children. George CLAREY B. 1851, Barrow, Suffolk, England; Bp. 12.10.1851; D. 6.8.1924; Int. Lutwyche, Brisbane Qld. George was married on 19.11.1870 in Horningsea, Cambridge, England to Emma BEAUMONT B. c.1850 in Horningsea, Cambridge, England; D. August 1918; Int. Lutwyche, Brisbane Qld. They had two children in England before they immigrated to Queensland Australia in about 1874. More children were born in Queensland, where their descendants are still living. Here is what I know of James Clarey and his family: James CLAREY (1856-1929) was married in about 1890 to Ann HARDY (1858- 1928). Ann Hardy came from Littleport in Cambridgeshire, an area known as Fenland. They remained in England living at Bishop Stortford in Hertsfordshire, but 4 of their daughters immigrated to Queensland Australia in the early 1900s (before WW1). The rest of their family remained in England. Their children were (birth order not known): B1. Arthur CLAREY Unmarried B2. James CLAREY Married Lillian ……. B3. Bett CLAREY Married Robert CHALLIS B4.
