I am trying to find information on James Milton Akins. He was born Illget to Melvina Akins d/o William Akins and Elizabeth McCorkel and Tollison Atkinson. He was born in Morgan Co. GA. He married Lucinda Rankins. He was in Co I 19th Al infantry. It was told in our family he held General Lee's horse the day he surrendered to Grant in VA. This I dont know if it is true or not. They moved to Jackson Co. AR. He died in 1877 and is buried in Salem Cem. He has no headstone as the woods are so thick you cant see many graves.they had 1. Marcus Da Lafayette Akins who was born in 1852 died before 1900. He fell in a well on the homeplace. 2.Elizabeth Akins she married a Carter and Ben Franklin Ray. 3.Margaret Melvina Akins m. Thomas Jefferson Coe and Ed Brockmeyer. 4.Rebekah Josephine Akins m.Jasper Newton McNair. 5.Emily Emma S. Akins M. James Ingram. Does anyone have any information on the children of James and Lucinda Akins. I ahve the information on my grandmother Margaret Melivina. I just need information on the children of Marcus and the rest of his sisters.I have seen there is a James M Akins buried in Carmel Cem in Spring Garden AL. It says hes in Co. I 19th AL inf also. he died in 1870 where my grandpa died in 1877. These two cant be the same James Akins. Does anyone know the identifcation of this James M Akins? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
