My 2 x Great Grandfather James Gordon was born c1836 supposedly in Dundee, Forfarshire, Scotland. His elder brother George Gordon was born, but not registered (according to 1855 marriage certificate in Perthshire, Scotland) c1830 Tobermore, Co. Mayo, Ireland. Parents - Alexander Gordon & Bridget (Mary) Egan - both deceased by 1855. I can find both George & James in Perthshire on 1851 census - but cannot find them in Scotland on 1841 census! I think James may have been born in Co. Mayo and the family had not reached Scotland by June 1841 - the family were protestants, hence the name George! Can anyone suggest any line of research I can take to further my knowledge - or does anyone have these Gordons in their family? Heather | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
