Searching for parents of Martha Jane Childress, b. approximately 1818 in Virginia. Have hit a brick wall. Martha Jane Childress married Daniel Townsend (sea captain) abt. 11/03/1835. Records indicate she and Daniel lived in New York for several years and later census records have them in Richmond (city), VA. Daniel Townsend died 1849 or 1850 in Richmond. They had 3 children: James Walter-b.abt.1841 in NY, Henry Johns-b.2/12/1844 in NY, and Adalaide D.-b. abt. 1848 in Richmond, VA. Martha Jane remarried to Nathaniel W. Thompson abt. 9/20/1853 (Richmond, VA). That union produced two children - a son, Nathaniel W. b. May 1858 and a daughter, Sarah J. Bell, b. abt. 1860. Nathaniel Thompson died sometime after 1860. Martha Jane remarried to Robert Green (sailor), living in Richmond, Henrico Co., VA at time of 1870 census,
