I have received information that my gggrandfather enlisted in the War of 1812 in Sussex County, VA. His name was Charles Gay. I have his marriage to Sarah unknown abt 1817 in VA. He is listed in the census in Halifax County, NC in 1820. I find a Charles Gay the right age and married the right time in Sussex, Va but married to Amasa Birdsong.
