I am attempting to fill in gaps in my family's geneology. My father (Richard Herman Otterstatter) is unsure of his lineage, as he immigrated to the U.S. from Germany with his parents (Hermann Otterstatter & Adele Verweit) shortly after WWII. Hermann & Adele were, unfortunately, very tight-lipped about their ancestry. My father's sister (also born in Germany, is Hilde. My great grandparents are: Johannes Otterstaėtter/Maria Furcho (paternal grandfather's parents) & Samuel Verweit & Berta Knecht (paternal grandmother's parents). It is suspected that one or both families were eastern European gypsies (which could make things rather difficult), but this is factually unproven.
