I am searching for any members of my birth family. I believe I was an abandoned baby (female) found in a car in Concord, California on April 30, 1951 in the evening. There was a newspaper article with my picture (probably on the next day). Shortly after that newspaper article, a letter was postmarked from Alameda, California from someone purporting to be my birthmother. She wrote that my birthfather had taken me and said he would give me to someone, under threat to both of us. According to the letter, my mother was young. She named me "Neldajean." The medical authorities estimated I was a day or so old when I was found, but I was not born in a hospital. It seems my birthfather delivered me. I have had a wonderful life...was in a good foster home and adopted into a great family. I have worked in the field of adoption with expertise in interracial and transcultural adoptions.
