Query Text: |
I am looking for any additional information on two of my gr-gr-grandfathers: John Drain and Aaron Thompson. John Drain was born abt. 1865 in Co. Antrim, Ireland. He emigrated to the U.S. abt. 1888 and settled in Chicago, where a Drain cousin (John) and aunt (Marie) has settled several years earlier (from Belfast). He worked as a horseshoer. He died in 1894 at age 28 and is buried in Chicago. As yet, I have no idea what his exact birthdate or -place was, who his parents or siblings were, or indeed where any other family might be in Ireland. Aaron Thompson was born in the 1840s in New Brunswick, Canada (possibly Chatham in present-day Miramichi), to immigrant Scots. He worked as a lumberman in central N.B., married Emily Welton in 1865, and eventually emigrated with his family in the 1880s to the U.S., settling in Auburn, Maine. He died there in 1903 and his body was shipped back to N.B. His final burial place is unknown. There is a record from Chatham showing an Aaron as the son of Robert, but the connection remains unconfirmed. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
