I am trying to trace information about my Ancestors Thomas Looney and William Thomas Looney. In about 1849, Thomas Looney married in Gibraltar a local girl called Amelia. They had a son, William Thomas Looney in about 1850 but returned to Manchester (UK) before 1855. I would like to know what Thomas was doing in Gibraltar - the family story is that he was fighting in a Spanish Civil War - and any other family history associated with them. William Thomas Looney married in Manchester on 20 March 1870 and the couple had two children. He then left his family - supposedly to go to America - but was never heard of again.
