My birth mother was Black and born and raised in a major Midwest city. She graduated from a Conservatory of Music around the mid 1950s. She toured with Opera Companies and taught piano and voice. Her mother was a corporate supervisor. My birth mother had an older brother. She was with my birth father who is also Black for several years. He was 7 yrs. older than her and divorced. He was a jewel setter in the jewelry trade, and was a musician too. I was born on May 12,1959 in NYC when my mother was 24 and my father 31. She named me Victoria Stevens. I was born at French Hospital in NYC, 2 months premature, and adopted from Sheltering Arms Adoption Agency in NYC at 9 months old. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
