Looking for origin of the term "prince of Zipfel--Zerbest." From context, this was an insult to Prince Frederick William of Prussia. I think it mean he was was only a prince of a small insignificant "country." I have an ancestor from "Germany" who settled in Pittsburgh, probably after 1860, Peter Zipfel. I have not been able to find any origins. He lived on the "South Side" of Pittsburgh, in the German area. He was a weaver by trade. He married my g-aunt, Barbara Klein-Kline, an emigrant from Leimen, Rhineland, Germany. She emigrated with her family before 1880. Most of the Kline family settled in Cambria County, PA, but she had a sister, Mary Kline Knorr, who also lived in Pittsburgh. Mary's daughter, Margaret, married an emigrant, Frank Zettle. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
