I am researching Joshua and his family. I have found a marriage for Joshua George Wright 10 July1843, Saint Andrews Church, Enfield, Middlesex England. Certainly the Joshua George I am researching was living in Turkey Street Enfield in the 1841. I do know he married Emma Perry prior to travelling to live in New Zealand in 1857. By that date he would have been 32 years old. As he would be about 18 years old in 1843, this seems reasonable enough that his first marriage was to Louisa Francis and it could well be our Joshua George Wright. I have found a William Francis and his family in the 1841 census. William was a Hay Carter in Cheshunt. In 1851 the Francis family is in the village of Turnford, parish of Cheshunt. This is interesting as there is a daughter called Louisa Wright in the group and William Francis (head) is described as “ farmer, hay carter, 20 acres and 3 men”. One of these three men listed is Thomas Wright who is aged 20 (a match for the Thomas Wright's age - sibling of Joshua George Wright). Thomas's birthplace is also listed as Enfield Middlesex. In the 1851 census Joshua George Wright appears to be in Hatfield. There is also a similarity in occupation as Joshua George’s father ( also Joshua) was a straw carter. Can anyone help me solve this mystery? What happened to Louisa? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
