In 1861 George Dickey, 53, and his son-in-law Jesse Hill,38, volunteered for union forces from Marion County, TN. Their families continued living to- gether on a farm and were harassed by Rebel forces ripping up their bedding and scattering the feathers in the wind and tried to set their house on fire. Can anyone verify the men's service and what unit? George was honorably discharged and came home before the war was over to take his family away from danger to Missouri. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
