Looking for information on my great-grandmother, Mary Joseph (or Josephine) Phelan, born about 1867 in Waterford. Although she was Roman Catholic, she married Presbyterian Samuel William Mason, a soldier in the Royal Army Medical Corps, at St. Olave's Presbyterian Church in Waterford City, on 7 Nov 1888. Mary's father was a baker possibly named Thomas (?) Phelan. Mary and Samuel had 8 surviving children born in various parts of Ireland (Kerry, Cork, Waterford, Tipperary): Thomas (Harry), Margaret, Frederick, Samuel, Eileen, Robert, John (Ernie), and Mary (Violet). In 1907 the family moved to Dublin and lived at 21, Murtagh Rd in the Stoneybatter section, where they remained for many years. Mary died while on holiday at Skerries, Dublin after a gallstone attack. If anyone has information on this Phelan family, please contact me. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
