My ancestor Frances Clayton showed up in Chesterfield Co VA in 1749 buying property in the earliest years of Chesterfield's formation continuing to do so until his death in 1772. From that time on up to 5 more generations of Clayton's lived there. During the later 1800's - early 1900's there were other Clayton's not thought to be related that lived there. However, it is likely that many, if not all of the Clayton's there in the late 1700's through mid 1800's were related. However not all have been so proved. I am looking at all these families for Genealogy purposes and would like to communicate with others studying Clayton families of Chesterfield. Probably most related to the Clayton line of Francis, John, Thomas B, Thomas Jr, Edward T have likely made contact before, but if anyone new to research to this line are welcome to contact me for what is known on that line. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
