My name is Jamie and my last is McDaniel.. I'm in search of my surname's orgin. I've been told many things about my families last name but none seem to hold any base. I've been told by my great grandma that our name is orginly MacDaniel or Mac Daniel. I've been told that our family is Scottish or Irish. Then i've been told we are dutch. I've even been told that along time ago Vikings from Norway swept across Ireland and we were Ireland with Norway blood. I've been told that when the English were fighting with Scottish the english had the irish to come over and help them, but instead the Irish liked the Scottish so much that some of them married the women and that is how we got the McDaniel last name. There are so many tells that they tell us I'm starting to think we don't have a orgin. I know part of the McDaniel are cherokee. I can trace my family back to my great grandpa Monroe McDaniel and his wife Laura Green (not sure on correct spelling) Most of my family well my grandpa Leonard Ervin McDaniel Sr. and his siblings are dead, as well as my Great grandpa and his siblings. They died before i took and major interest in all this. I know my family Recently resides in Ohio, Tennessee and Kentucky.. If anyone know anything the help will be greatly appreciated.
