June 1974, Clovis, Curry County, NM. I delivered a baby, was told it was stillborn by my ex-mother-in-law and that there was nothing to bury, and sex was unknown. I was 8 1/2 months pregnant. I was not allowed to see the baby and was told only my ex's mother did. I have no memory of delivery between 2 AM Sunday morning and dawn. I tried to get records and was denied by the hospital on the basis of my ex-husband having to sign a release - he wasn't speaking to me. In 1978 my ex-mother-in-law told my living daughter that I had given away a child. I overheard, thought she had lost her mind out of grief for her husband who had just died and for my ex who had just remarried. Later, however, she again told my daughter I had given away a girl. In 2003 a gynocologist told me the story I had been told was impossible. I began searching for records. I cannot find anything except the date I was dismissed from the hospital in clovis - no birth records, no death records, no state disposition records, no coroner's report, no adoption in names connected to me, delivery doctor deceased, family doctor's records burned in storage after his retirement. The baby log at the hospital records one baby born on June 23, 1074 the day I delivered, but there are no mothers dismissed with a child for that date. I think the baby was mine. I am going to petition the court for access to the child's record. If you are searching, I am looking for you. I am blonde, tall and slender, blue eyes, 67 now, have ancestry of Cherokee, Prussian, Welsh, Irish, and have been told the Prussian part was possibly of Scandinavian descent. I cannot tell you of your father, other than he might have been Czech - small build, slender, light brown hair, very blue eyes. You could have green eyes as my living daughter does. My ex and I were separated for a year and a half and I was in a relationship with someone else when we reconciled for my living daughter. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
