HEATHER : HOEY | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Query Text: |
Looking for my ancestors of the Heather and Hoey families who lived in Counties Armagh and Tyrone respectively in Ireland. John Heather came to Quebec, Canada during the early 1800's in the military. He took a land grant rather than return to Ireland when his unit disbanded and with three sons settled in Quebec. One of his sons, Wilford Heather, born 1808, married Eliza Hoey, born 1810, in 1833 at Kildare (now called St. Ambroise de Kildare), in Quebec, Canada. It's believed that the Heather ancestors originally came from England during the time of the Plantations and may have tilled the land they bought and/or rented from the Earl of Charlemont. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
