My name is Sherwin Jacobson. I am researching my family (Jacobson) from around Zagare, Lithuania. I am the Grandson of Phillip Jacobson born about 1886. Phillip’s father was Hillman Jacobson, and his mother was Michele Kaplan. To the best of my knowledge Phillip had the following siblings: Fannie, Chana Vita, Isaac, Harry, Jacob, Morris, and Fannie from a previous wife. Names may have been spelled differently or changed (I know that some used Jacobson, Jacobsohn, and or Jackson). I also suspect that my grandmother's family may have come from that same area but I am not certain. Phillip Jacobson married Chana Etta (Annette) Krieger who was born around 1885. Her mother was Libby Jacobsohn and her father's first name is Sidney Krieger. Her grandparents were Hillel ben Wolf Jacobsohn and fredya. Chana Etta, my grandmother, had the following siblings: Tony, Raisel (Ruth), and Dena. Libby Jacobsohn's parents were Hillel Ben Wolf Jacobsohn and Freyda. Libby's siblings that I know of are Dena, Chana, Helman, and Herman. I also know that am related to the Weiner, Allswang, Krieger, Newberger, Perlman, Aronowitz, Abramovsky, Aron, Bisk, Fisher, Goldberg, Gordon, Hatowsky, Hirsh, Kaplan, Klink, Katz, Kolom, Marcuschevitz , Tannenbaum , and Elfenbaum families. Part of the family imigrated from the Lithuania area to England. Isaac my grandfather’s brother stayed in England and some of his children moved to Israel. Most of the family that I know of moved to Chicago. I have been told we also have relatives in scandinavia, and South Africa but I have no proof yet. I have about 700 names so far.
