Further information desired on Harrison Bowker and/or his 1st wife Ellen S. Currie. Bowker was born Hinsdale, NH about 1835. Teacher in Winnebago, WI; fruit dealer Chicago. Married Ms. Currie, Aug 1, 1874,in Vermont and they settled in St. Louis, MO. 1882 moved to Los Angeles where they owned "Ashuelot," a private home on W. Adams St. With wife, developed Ellendale Place, a tract named for his wife Ellen who became blind soon after they arrived in LA. Ellen died in 1907. 1909 Harrison married a widow/neighbor Mrs. Elizabeth Welsh who died about 1921 leaving an estate in excess of half-million dollars. No death date is known for Mr. Bowker. Interested in photos, death dates, and any info about 2646 Ellendale Pl., one of the many properties they developed.
