BROWN : MCCLELLAND

Query Text:

I am searching for my father's birth family. He is a TWIN, born March 1, 1945 in Los Angeles. Both he and his sister were adopted by Erma Louise Brown McClelland at the age of 2. Mother possibly from Pennsylvania, definitely have older siblings. Mother remarried and had more children. My aunt (the twin) birth certificate with her adopted name has these numbers on there: 3847 - center/top of document (printed) Registars number: 5115 (printed) hand written: m244 and B650 also the number 1901 at top/left corner My father and aunt are deceased. And still I am searching.....ANY help you can offer is appreciated. Here is the non-identifying info I have: Birth Mother: Scotch/Irish/German Age at child birth: 26 Protestant Completed two years of high school 5ft 7 ½ inches tall, weighed 190 pounds and have blue eyes and medium brown hair with fair complexion. Birth parents were married. Siblings of birth mother: 2 sisters, ages 44 and 36 and one brother age 36 Marriages: Her first marriage was to the birth father. After two years of marriage he deserted her and one year later died. Two years after the adoptee’s birth she married her second husband. Siblings: Twin sister and a brother age 2. You also had a half sister, three years younger than you, from your mother’s second marriage. Your full brother and half-sister lived with your birth mother Placed in a foster home through the Bureau of Public Assistance of Los Angeles County. Your adoptive parent’s attorney helped arrange your adoption. You and your sister were placed with your adoptive parents on July 22, 1947 For some reason the state sent (in error) the birth certificate of my Aunt instead of my father when I request non-identifiying info on him. It has the number 3847 at the top and 32036…and the date Dec, 9 1949 (which I believe was when the adoption was officially final. When his adoptive mother was divorced already (no father is listed on the birth certificate!) The adoptive mother always claimed she was the first single woman to adopt in the state. Attorney: Rosalind Goodrich Bates
