I am searching for my birth mother, I believe her name is Grace Gordon. She was going to name me Ruby, but my adoptive parents named me Laura Jane Brewer. I was born on April 26, 1960 at Intercommunity Hospital in Fairfield, California. The adoption was pre-arranged before I was born by a mutual friend of both of my Mother's, Judy Donoho (I might have the wrong last name, I know at one point she remarried). I had a wonderful life and wonderful parents, and still do, though they are both in fragile health. I would love to meet my mother and father, and siblings to find out if I look like any of them :) also would wonderful to find out my health history :) The only other information I have is that my mother was married to a man named Jim Gordon and he was in the Air Force at Travis AFB, CA. She had children already, and while her husband Jim was away she became pregnant, with me, by another man. Her husband told her that it was me or him, and since she had other children with him, and this was 1960, women rarely worked outside the home much, so she decided to give me up for adoption and stay with her husband. I was told her name was Grace Gordon and that she had originally wanted to name me Ruby. I know I have some half siblings out there, but I am not sure if it was two or three or more. My birth mother also used to call my parents to ask how I was doing, but it upset my mother too much because up to six months old they can change their mind about the adoption, so they asked her not to call anymore. Also my parents remember an incident where they had gone to a pizza restaurant and ordered pizza, when their pizza was done I guess they called out their last name, Brewer, and they said after that a women with long reddish hair came up to them and asked if his name was Ed Brewer, then she ran out of the restaurant crying. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
