Trying to find information on my grandmothers' family. My grandmother, Dorothy Poelzl, was born Feb.2,1894 in Eibiswald, Austria. She was one of five children. Her mother died during childbirth(not sure if this was her birth or another siblings, but Dorothy was the youngest.)Dorothy's father could not care adequately for her and Dorothy was adopted by neighbors who were childless, Andrew and Elizabeth Zernig. Andrew Zernig was born in 1867 and was personnal valet to Emporer Franz Josef of Austria. Elizabeth Zernig was born in 1866. They came from Austria to New Grant Street, and later Blackman Street,in Wilkes Barre, Pa. in 1901. They later moved to Mountain Top, Pa. Dorothy married Frank Joseph Kreuzer(Kreutzer), who came to the United States from Tachau City, Bohemia, Austria(now Chech Repblic) between 1887 and 1898,with his parents and siblings. Frank Kreuzer, Dorothy Poelzl-Zernig's husband was born on March 14,1876, possibly in Pilsen. Adam may have owned a mica/silver mine, prior to his emmigration to America, near the Russia-Germany border which was seized by Russia. Any info on any of these Families would be greatfully appreciated!!! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
