I have found the genealogical info re my maternal (Mabel, below) grandmother, who was married to: 1. Camille Vilfide Fremin was born April 13, 1873 in Labadieville, LA and died in White Castle, LA. He married ("Grandma Fremin") before 1905. Children of Camille Fremin and "Grandma Fremin" are: i. Joseph Clarence Fremin, b. Sep 14 1893 ii. Mabel Marie Fremin, b. Feb. 13, 1906 iii. Hilda Jennie Fremin, b. abt. 1908 iv. Gertrude Fremin, b. abt. Feb. 14, 1911 "Grandma Fremin" was indeed a Dugas. It seems that the record of her Baptism (and, hence, birth) were inadvertantly omitted from the Diocese of Baton Rouge (DoBR)Indices of Church Records. A visit with the Diocese Office produced the following: 1. the information that the particular volume of actual church records was one of the very few that had not been taken into account when preparing that year's Index, and 2. a 'synthesized-on-the-spot' baptismal record developed from the original church record book that was retrieved from the Diocese vault. Name: Florence (Elizabeth Angele) Dugas Baptism: 08 Jan 1874, St. Elizabeth Church, Paincourtville, Assumption Parish, LA, spo. (Illegible) Dugas; Marie Aucoin. Born: 27 Dec 1873, vic. Paincourtville, Assumption Parish, LA. The resulting find enabled me to connect my mother to many Dugas, Simoneaux, Foret, and other familiar Acadian names.
