Query Text: |
I am seeking information on the ancestors of George Ponting (born Wiltshire, UK 1865/6; occupation: ironmoulder), and his wife Sarah Lee (born Walton on the Naze, Essex, UK 1863/4). George's parents were William Ponting (b 1838 Compton Bassett, Wilts) and Elizabeth Flower (b 1841 Bromham, Wilts, d between 1891 and 1901) (married 25 Dec 1859), William's father was Thomas (d before William and Elizabeth's marriage) and Elizabeth's father was Daniel (also d before Elzabeth and William's marriage). William had at least 7 siblings. Sarah's parents were James Lee (b 1834/5 Walton, Essex, d 1881-1891) and Amelia Fairbrother (b 1837-1843, Walton on the Naze, Essex) - married 2 October 1857. Sarah had at least 8 siblings. George and Sarah's children were born in Walton on the Naze in Essex, UK and Maidstone, Kent, UK. I believe they had 8 children and probably 9 - Ethel (1883/4 but possibly may not have been their daughter), William (1885/6), Edward (1886/7), Frederick George (1888/9 - my grandfather), Emily (1890/1), Bertha (1894/5) and probably Katie (1893/4) born in Walton on the Naze and Lizzie (1896/7) and Nelly (1900) born in Maidstone. One of the brothers was a steward at a North Kent county club. Frederick George was captured in Mesopotamia during world war 1. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
