I am looking for descendants of William L. Longmire, born in England ~ 1800 and died in Nova Scotia ~ 1890. He married Elizabeth Ann Halliday born ~ 1808 in Nova Scotia and died there ~ 1887. William is credited to having been one of the principal pioneers of Hillsburn, Nova Scotia where he and his wife are buried. He came to Canada with his brother Ritson, who stayed in the Nova Scotia area. there was a sister also, Mrs. James Withers, again in the Nova Scotia area, and another brother went to New York instead of Nova Scotia. His youngest son, Howard Douglass married Robie Ann Elizabeth Downey (from New Brunswick) in Cambridge, Ma. This was his second marriage. His first was to Edith Annie Goldsmith--they married in Nova Scotia. they immagrated to Cambridge together, where she died in the mid 1890's. they had 4 children, all born in Nova Scotia (?): William Vernon, Bessie L., Charles Albert, and Mabel. Howard moved to the Cambridge are to be with his brother Henry. I am looking for those related to Henry, whom i believe are still in the area. my aunt talks about visiting cousins of my grandmother, but cannot remember anyones names. Howard and Robie had three daughters: Annie, Ethel, and Muriel, my grandmother. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
