I am trying to find out information on my great-great grandfather, JOHN CHAUNCEY, who was married to ELIZABETH TAYLOR of Fairfax County, Virginia. They had six children, of whom my great grandfather was Thomas Alexander Chauncey. John Chauncey shows up in the Alexandria, Virginia area sometime around 1840, but he was born in 1788 as shown on his tombstone which is located in old Alexandria cemeteries. His wife, Elizabeth, was born in 1799. At the time of their marriage, John was listed as having been born in Delaware but I can not find anything on him in that state.
